Naoya Kanai

Cellist

Naoya Kanai performs cello throughout the Bay Area, where he was raised and began his studies. He has appeared at the Aspen, Banff, and Orford festivals as well as the New York String Orchestra Seminar, and with various chamber and orchestral ensembles. He holds a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School and a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University, with additional studies at the Tokyo University of the Arts. His former teachers include Fred Sherry, Richard Aaron, Nobuko Yamazaki, Irene Sharp, Roger Emanuels, and Reiko Aoki. In his spare time he works as a data scientist and enjoys cooking and sports.
